"I wish I could go back in time for just one day, " my mom said as we were sitting on her front porch drinking coffee. "I wouldn't want to go back for longer than a day. Just long enough to see everyone again." At 81 years old my mom knew time was running out, and she knew there were people she just wasn't going to see in Heaven.
I am sure we all wish we could go back in time for awhile. We would like a rewind. Maybe we would like to relive a happy childhood experience so etched in our minds, we wish we could feel that wonderful feeling one more time.
Or, if you are like me, we would like a rewind to undo some wrongs so etched in our minds, it makes us feel sad and ashamed. If only, we could get a redo and rewrite the past to erase the sin that comes to our minds with a sting so sharp it leaves us paralyzed. Maybe we feel that God won't even want to use us because of our past shames, and if only.......a new beginning... a rewind.
Fortunate for us, God doesn't see us that way. He doesn't require a rewind on our part. Take for instance Moses, a murderer. Or, how about Paul, a persecutor of Christians. I could go on with the numerous drunkards, naysayers, liers, etc. in the Bible that we would write off as "never gonna be anythinger's". But God saw something different. He saw willing hearts He could use. Hearts like ours. No rewind required.
